Abstract

Vibratory finishing causes a difference (unevenness) in the removal volume on the curved surface. So we need to establish a polishing model of vibratory finishing. In this research, a material removal simulation method is proposed using discrete element method (DEM) and Preston’s law. Experiment using Particle Image Velocimetry and rope for trajectory in the bowl confirmed the DEM trajectories. Finally, material removal simulations were confirmed by polishing workpieces with grooves.
