Ni-based superalloys are excellent in high temperature strength. However, the cutting edge of the milling is hot due to its low thermal conductivity. Therefore, tool wear is severe. Especially in deep pocket milling, improvement of tool life is required. In this study, side milling and grooving experiments were conducted for evaluating influence in heat on the wear pattern of the end mill and the effect of the tool material and coating grade on the tool life. AS a result, effectiveness of trochoid milling and the improvement of tool life with a specific tool were confirmed.
