Abstract

Fluid mixing on microfluidic chip is important technology, on lab on a chip field. Conventional on-chip micromixer has succeeded in mixing by using external pumps. However, undesirable dead volume exists in tube connection part between external pump and microfluidic chip. Thus, conventional micromixers are not suitable for rare reagents or samples such as fluorescent reagents, protein and so on. Therefore, we have proposed on-chip mixing method based on a vibration-induced flow without pump. The proposed method utilizes vibration-induced flow which is the flow induced around vibrating microobject. In this study, we fabricated two designs of micropillar array for mixing. We evaluated mixing performance of these two design.
