Integration of all-solid-state electrode into the microfluidic channel

Abstract

Monitoring the components in saliva is expected to be useful for early diagnosis. In this study, we integrated ion-selective-electrodes into a microfluidic channel device for measuring the ion concentration in saliva. All-solid-state selective electrodes were used for the electrodes to reduce the size of the device. In addition, by incorporating the electrode into the microfluidic channel, we were able to measure the ion concentration with small amount of sample. Solutions of different ion concentrations were introduced into the device, and the potential response was measured.
