Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for non-contact trapping technology at the nano and micro scale using optical radiation pressure for transporting biological particles and driving micromachines. In this study, we demonstrate that extensive trapping and rotation of micro-objects not seen in the past can be achieved by placing a periodic structure substrate beneath of a trapped particle, and elucidate its properties by experimentally investigating it.
