Date of correction: February 24, 2009Reason for correction: -Correction: ABSTRACTDetails: Wrong : We intended to measure the need of achievement of Japanese subjects by the “thought sampling” technique named by McClelland et al. The main results are summarized as follows: i) The “thought sampling” technique proved to be a fairly appropriate method to measure the achievement motivation. ii) A statistically significant difference of achivement motivation was found be-tween the Relaxed and the Achievement-oriented situations. In other words, achievement motivation became higher as the degree of subjects'ego involvement in the tasks became greater. iii) In the situation under which suc-cess or failure experience was given, achievement motivation became higher than in that situation where neither suc-cess nor failure was given; and especially in the case of success experience the highest n Achievement was obtained.
