Abstract

There is a growing attention to global environmental governance. Global environmental governance is a global governance in the issue area of the global environment, comprising multiple actors and institutions. It is important to build up trust for multilateral accelerate efforts to solving the global environment. This paper examined a trust in global environmental governance. For this purpose, this study has noticed a distinction passive and positive aspects of trust. With these concerns of in mind, this paper examined institutions, actors and institutions in global environmental governance. As for institutions in global environmental governance, this study has pointed out various aspects of institutions such as legalization, regime complex, treaty congestions. Next this paper has analyzed actors in global environmental governance by classifying into a stated centered type, hybrid type, and nonstate actors’ type. On current issues of global environmental governance, this study has noticed a backlash trends on multilateralism, nonstate actors initiatives in global environmental governance and goal setting type governance. Finally, this paper has assessed a trust in global environmental governance based on the analytical framework for negative and positive aspects of trust presented at the introduction part.
