Abstract
Idle quality is a major concern on some vehicles. Several engine and body frame parameters contribute to the vibration felt by vehicle occupants. Significant variation in idle quality across vehicles of the same model, as well as deterioration due to usage are also of major conern. A study of the engine parameters (hardware and software) utilizing Taguchi robust design methods has been conducted, and the findings are presented in this paper.
