Abstract
Ford Motor Company's patented Conical Air lnduction System(Conical AIS) for automobile engines provides outstanding dust filtration and induction noise control, with minimal airflow restriction. However, air turbulence within the Conical AIS causes variation of the Mass Airflow Sensor(MAFS) voltage output, which in turn causesthe engine. The end result is less -than-optimal engine performance. This paper presents an application of Taguchi Methods to minimize MAFS output variation.
