Abstract
There are three types in the synthetic fiber spinning processes : wet, dry, and melting processes. For the spinning of PET (Poly-Ethylene Terephthalate), a melting process is generally used. ln the process , it is essential to produce yarn having a uniform diameter and strength and elongation. Therefore, not only is good manufacturing equipment important as the hardware, but also the information related to manufacturing conditions must be established as the software. In this paper, a manufacturing experiment was conducted using an L18 orthogonal array to improve yam uniformity. A smaller-the-better characteristic was used to evaluate the quality of short-cycle and long-cycle variability.
