Abstract

This study reports the technology development of a hard turning process, a process to improve the surface finishing quality of component parts which are made from extra hard materials. Since the shape of component parts in recent years has become more and more complicated, the ordinary machining process cannot well perform its finishing work. In this study, the cutting resistance against the tool and the amount of material removed during the process were measured to evaluate the processing function and productivity. As a result, a processing condition was optimized to greatly improve productivity and reduce cost while the surface roughness was paralleled to the products made from the ordinary machining process.
