Experiments on the Low Temperature Stress Relieving Method

Abstract

It is presumed that the low temperature stress relieving will be one of the most powerful methods applicable to such cases as ship construction when the work cannot be wholly heat-treated.
In this paper the authors developed an apparatus for this operation by experiments on the butt joints. Experimetal results for other types of joint and theoretocal considerations will follow in the second report.
