Abstract
 In this paper significance and objective of JSQC division of healthcare quality and safety are described. Also planned activities are shown. The issues of healthcare quality and safety are interdisciplinary and social issues which should be tackled with not only medical people but also whole society. In order to recognize by non-medical people that the issues are social issues and many areas should be involved, non- medical academic society should provide a place where the issues are researched. The division aims to be entrance to the social issues for people in engineering and quality management.
  The research areas of the division are areas related to healthcare and care. The objective of the division is establishment of quality management system for healthcare. Main activities of the division are research on quality management system for healthcare, and education and enlightenment of the outputs.
 Main research subjects in this year are “ Patient Condition Adaptive Path System (PCAPS) ”, “ Quality Management System for Healthcare ” and “ DPC (Diagnosis Procedure Combination) ”. “ Basic Seminar of Quality Management for Healthcare ” will be held aiming to develop a curriculum and teaching method.Several symposiums are held to discuss those subjects and to publish outputs.
