Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the changing attitudes of -nursery teachers who had experienced loss due to the departure of infants for whom they cared. I interviewed eight nursery teachers who worked at infant homes. They had experienced loss due to infant departure. Interview data were analyzed using Modified Grounded Theory Approach (M-GTA). The result indicated that their attitudes changed through the following six steps: spending time with infants while having a wavering mind, helping an infant departure while struggling, feeling the sadness of loss, changing with a wavering mind, rethinking about childcare at infant home, and lastly, undertaking childcare at infant home. From the survey, it was revealed that nursery teachers rethought about childcare at infant homes after experiencing the departure of infants for whom they cared, and undertake the childcare at infant homes with their own sorrow.
