Abstract

【Purpose】The purpose of the study was to clarify the underlying factors of supervision in vocational rehabilitation, by comparing the expected supervision and the actual supervision, and discuss how supervision should be provided based on the expectancies from supervisees. 【Method】 A mail survey was conducted with 879 vocational rehabilitation service providers. A series of factor analyses, t-tests, and analysis of variance were conducted. 【Results】 The expected supervision and the actual supervision were both explainable by three functions as management function, educational function, and supportive function. The degree of expected supervision was significantly higher than that of actual supervision, and there were significant differences on expected supervision between male and female and among years of experiences. 【Conclusion】 More educational and supportive functions may be necessary to meet the needs of supervision based on gender difference and the level of experience in vocational rehabilitation.
