Abstract

【Aims】 We evaluated scores on the “Scale on Role Model Behavior for Nursing Faculty” before and after training classes for novice teachers at 3-year nursing schools. We also examined the effectiveness of the training program. 【Methods】 Two group-training classes were held for teachers working in the nursing schools. We scored the teachers on the abovementioned scale before and after the training classes. 【Results】 Scale scores were lowest for novice teachers and increased in proportion to years of experience. In addition, after the program only the novice teachers' scores were significantly higher than before the training, and they increased significantly for twice trainee than one time on all subscales. 【Conclusion】 Teachers-especially novice ones-showed positive changes after the training classes. The training was therefore effective for new teachers. We speculate that growth occurs with practical experience, and it is therefore effective for teachers to attend training classes and gain repeated practice. Continued training implementation and evaluation are needed into the future.
