Extracting free sulfur in vulcanizates with benzene and removing MBT by shaking with an aqueous alkaline solution, one can determine a.c.-polarographically the free sulfur in a small amount with the electrolyte-solvent mixture composed of benzene, methanol, pyridine and concentrated hydrochloric acid.
