Abstract
Nitrocellulose in acetone-isopropyl alcohol mixed solvent (1 vol. + 5 vol.) in the presence of sodium percholrate and perchloric acid shows a well-defined reduction wave at the dropping mercury electrode. The diffusion current is directly proportional to the concentration up to 0.6×10-3 moles of nitro group per litre. Nitrocellulose in acetone suspension containing aluminium oxide can be determined with a satisfactory precision.
