Abstract
More than 2, 000 papers have been published concerning adsorption of organic compounds on mercury electrodes. Many review articles have been published on the adsorption of organic compounds on electrodes citing these papers. However, there have been not so many articles which make much of adsorbable compounds themselves. The next two monographs are considered to make much of the compounds. The monograph by Breyer and Bauer (Breyer and Bauer, 1963) contains the chapters of a.c. polarography of organic compounds and tensammetric investigation of non-reducible substances. About 1, 100 papers are cited in Jehring's monograph (Jehring, 1974). It contains a detailed index of organic compounds. The author will try to make a dictionary of the compounds which are adsorbed on mercury electrodes. The present review article deals with alcohols. The form of description will follow that of Breyer and Bauer.
