Abstract
Dinitro compound, 2, 4-Dinitro-6-sec.-butylphenol (o-DNB) is a raw material of a technical pesticide preparation, Since 2, 6-dinitro-4-sec.-butylphenol (p-DNBP) is contained in the technical product separatory determination is necessary for the analysis of the raw material and preparations. The polarographic behavior of o-DNBP and p-DNBP was investigated and it was found e.g., that 0-isomer shows two reduction waves and p-isomer a single wave in the following solution : equi-volume mixture of ethyl alcohol and the buffered solution in which Kolthoff's buffer solution of pH 6.0, 0.2n NaCl solution and 1% gelatin solution are contained at a ratio of 40: 10: 1 in volume (Figs. 1 and 2). Under the above condition, the first, second and total wave heights of o-DNBP and the height of p-DNBP wave have a linear relationship with concentration (Fig. 3.). Fig. 4, which represents the relationship between the mixing ratio of o- and p-DNBP (100: 0 to 80: 20) and the wave height, shows that the total wave height is not changed with the change of the ratio, but that the first wave height increases and the second one decreases linearly with decreasing the mixing ratio of o-DNBP. The separatorry determinations of both isomers in the raw material and the preparations are carried out on the basis of the regression line (eq. (1) of the second wave height (Fig. 4) and the regression line (eq. (2)) of the average total wave height as shown in Table 8 and Fig. 5
