Abstract
Conditions of three ataxic patients who are unable to keep the standing position resulted from hemorrhage at their brainstems were investigated using graicorder and surface electromyograpy. Results obtained are as follows: 1) Of three patients two indicated myoclonus. 2) Rhythmical trembling observed when keeping the standing position coincided with the cycle of myoclonus. 3) Maintaining standing position was mainly controlled by the cerebellar ataxia side, that by the sensory ataxia side being hardly observed. 4) In order to keep the posture of repose, ataxia patients used also the mechanism for keeping position on moving.
