Abstract

The following seven cyclopoid and two calanoid copepod species were collected from Lake Kahoku-gata from 1990 to 1992: Eucyclops cf. serrulatus, Paracyclops fimbriatus, Cyclops vicinus, Acanthocyclops robustus, Mesocyclops pehpeiensis, Thermocy-clops crassus and Thermocyclops taihokuensis ; Schmackeria inopinus and Eodiaptomus japonicus. Their morphological characteristics were described, and taxonomy was discussed, particularly for E. cf. serrulatus and A. robustus. A. robustus and M. pehpeiensis were described from Japan for the first time. Lake Kahoku-gata has been partly reclaimed and desalinated since the 1960's, and only S. inopinus has survived the environmental changes.
