Abstract
A case of thrombosis of the portal, splenic, superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric veins is reported. This patient had suffered from acute pancreatitis four years earlier and he had cavernous transformation of the portal vein (CTPV) and gastric and esophageal varices on angiography.
He was treated by surgical procedures, such as esophageal transection, devascularization of the esophagogastric junction and splenectomy, and has been well since the operation.
From these results, it was concluded that thrombosis of the portal vein seems to be derived from acute pancreatitis.
