Four cases of Warthin's tumor of the salivary gland are reported. The first case was a 70-year-old woman who suffered from a left parotid tumor. The second was a 51-yearold man with a tumor of the left lateral neck thought to arise from the left submandibular gland. The third was 59-year-old woman who had a left parotid tumor. And the fourth case was 77-year-old man who suffered from a right parotid tumor. Extirpation of the tumors was performed in all four cases, and the histological findings showed that the lesions were typical Warthin's tumors.
Tamura et al. in our department had previously reported three cases of Warthin's tumor in 1981. Thus, we have experienced seven cases of Warthin's tumor. The incidence of Warthin's tumor was 14% (7/49). The ages of patients with this ranged from 51 to 85 (average 69), which was higher than in other tumors of the salivary gland. There was a high male: female ratio (2.5:1). The parotid gland was more offen affected than the submandibular gland (5:2). And the left salivary gland was more frequently involved than the right (6:1).
