Abstract
Cases of retroperitoneal tumor with preoperative diagnosis have been increasing in number because of the development of imaging diagnosis methods, such as computed tomography, angiography, and ultrasonography.
Twenty-four patients with retroperitoneal tumor have been experienced in our surgical department during the past 12 years. Among these, 19 cases with pathological diagnosis were analyzed. The rate of definite diagnosis by computed tomography, angiography, and ultrasonography was 72.7%, 85.7%, and 72.7%, respectively, and the rate of diagnosis of malignancy was more than 85% using those methods. We can conclude that computed tomorgraphy, angiography, and ultrasonography are useful for the preoperative diagnosis of retroperitoneal tumor.
