Abstract
A 62-year-old woman, was admitted to our hospital complaining of tarry stool, lower abdominal pain and abdominal dilatation. Gastrographin enema, abdominal CT, and colon fiber revealed intussusception of the sigmoid colon. The patient was treated with conservative reduction with Ba enema. After conservative reduction, Ba enema and colon fiber revealed a sigmoid colon cancer (Borrman-1 type).
The patient underwent surgery for the sigmoid colon cancer. The operation revealed that the tumor, about 6 cm in size and about 12 cm from the paritoneal reflection, was S1P0H0M0 in Stage II, R3 resection was performed. The microscopic examination established the diagnosis of papillo-tubular adenocarcinoma, ssB, n(-), ly3, v1aw(-), ow(-), Dukes-B. Adult intussusception is a compartively rare disease as compared to child. It matters whether tussusception is associated with cancer or not, in view of treating and predicting the prognosis. This paper discribes our recent experience of a case of sigmoid colon cancer with intussuception in light of the related literature.
