Abstract
A case of synchronous early double cancer of esophagus and stomach, which is the 20th case report in the Japanese literature, is described. A 65-year-old male was admitted to the hospital because of abnormality on Ba meal on medical chech up. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed an esophageal cancer (Im-Ei, O-IIa type, sm). Futher, examination of the resected specimen showed a gastric cancer in adenoma (IIa, m).
The gastric lesion could not be diagnosed as malignant preoperatively, and was locally excised by gastrotomy intraoperatively. It was interesting that histologically the both lesions were the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in diffuse dysplasia and gastric carcinoma in adenoma, respectively.
