Abstract
For the purpose of saving the homologous blood transfusion in cardiovascular operations during extracorporeal circulation, intraoperative blood salvasing autotransfusion by using Cell Saver® was performed since March 1986, preoperative autologous blood preservasion since February 1989, autologous plasma preservation since September 1989, and autologous platelet preservation since February 1990, and the results were evaluated.
Thirty-seven patients undergoing thoracotomy or those with thoracic aortic diseases were divided into two groups; 16 patients undergoing intraoperative blood salvasing autotransfusion with preoperative autologous blood preservation (group 1) and 21 without it (group 2).
The average volume of homologous blood transfusion was significantly reduced in group 1, and non bloodtransfused operation could be frequently performed in group 1 compared with Group 2.
Autologous platelet was preoperatively preserved by 2.70×1011 on average and returned to the patient after extracorporeal circulation in 6 cases. The average volume of homologous platelet transfusion was significantly reduced in these cases.
In 27 cases, 329 ml of fresh plasma was preoperatively preserved by the system composed of hollow fiber membrane and returned to the patient in operation. The transfused volume of homologous FFP and albumine was able to reduce.
