Abstract
Recent experience with a very rare case of primary sarcoma of the gallbladder (malignant fibrous histiocytoma) is reported. A 74-year-old female was admitted to our institution because of anorexia and weight loss. Abdominal ultrasound examination and a CT scan showed that the gallbladder with stones had no inner space, visualizing as an irregular wall thickening, and continued directly with the anterior section of right lobe of the liver. Abdominal angiography revealed an increase in the cystic arteries and tumor stain of right lobe of the liver. The patient was diagnosed with the gallbladder cancer with direct invasion to the liver, and underwent resection of central two section of the liver. Pathological examination made us a diagnosis of malignant fibrous histiocytoma. The patient died of liver recurrence one year after surgery. This case is thought the fifth case in Japan.
