Abstract
Gastric cancer rarely metastasizes to the breast. In this paper, 1 case of gastric cancer which metastasized to the breast experienced at the department in 1990, with another 18 cases seen in the Japanese literature are presented. All the primary cancers were in an advanced stage, and most of them were poorly differentiated types in pathology. Metastasized lesions in the breast tended to be large. Metastasis also occurred in the lymph nodes, ovary, skin, and bone. The prognosis of the patients was poor, not depending upon the treatment. Operative indications for the metastatic sites should be limited to the case having other metastasis besides that of the breast and the case in which the local control is needed.
