Abstract
A case of pancreatic pseudocyst penetrated into the abdominal aorta is reported. A 60-year-old man was seen at the department because of sudden epigastric pain. Computed tomography on initial examination revealed a pseudocyst complicated by hemorrhage in the uncinate process of pancreas. No gastrointestinal or intraabdominal hemorrhage occurred throughout the hospital course. Although a failure in identifying the source of hemorrhage with abdominal angiography, operation was performed because of an increasing risk of rupture. Bleeding was found originating from the abdominal aorta cranial to the superior mesenteric artery intraoperatively. Direct suture of the aorta could control the bleeding. The pancreatic cyst was excised with pancreatoduodenectomy. Recently, case reports on pancreatic pseudocyst hemorrhage are increasingly seen, but a case in which the pseudocyst penetrated into the aorta has never been reported in Japan. As we had difficulties in the diagnosis and the treatment of this case, it is presented here with some discussions.
