Abstract
Recently aggressive surgical treatment for metastatic bone tumors has been emphasized to improve the quality of life of the patient. In this paper a successful alleviation of cancer pain by resection of the chest wall with reconstruction in a patient suffering from painful metastatic tumor of the chest wall from gastric cancer is reported. A 68-year-old man, who had been operated on for double cancer of the stomach and sigmoid colon, complained of an increasing pain due to metastasized lesion to the chest wall which had been noticed at the initial operation.
Operation to alleviate the pain was performed. Sugical procedures included resection of the chest wall and reconstruction of the chest wall using Marlex sandwich method, followed by covering with back broadest muscle flap. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient became free from cancer pain, with favorable respiratory function.
