Abstract
A 63-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of anemia. Physical and blood examinations were normal. Upper gastrointestinal series showed a polypoid lesion (1.4×1.0cm) at the supra duodenal angle on the lesser curvature side. Endoscopy demonstrated a bean-shaped tumor at the juncture of the 1st and 2nd portion of the duodenum on the lesser curvature side. Histological diagnosis was adenocarcinoma. The patient was diagnosed as having a primary early duodenal cancer, and gastroduodenectomy with lymph node dissection was performed. On the macroscopic examination, well-localized and elevated tumor lesion (0.6×1.0×0.7cm) was located 3.5cm distal to the pylorus ring. Histological diagnosis was moderately differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma with only mucosal involvement and no metastasis of lymph nodes.
We herein report a case of rare primary duodenal cancer in an early stage, with some literature review regarding this disease.
