Abstract

We report a case of primary squamous cell carcinoma of the breast. A 74-year-old woman was seen at the hospital because of a tumor of the right breast. On physical examination the tumor was 3cm in diameter and was located in the outside of upper part of the right breast. An excisional biopsy was done. Histopathologically it was squamous cell carcinoma of the breast associated with spindle cell metaplasia and keratinous cyst. A breast-conserving surgery without irradiation was performed and hormon therapy was not added. There has been no sign of recurrence as of 2 years after the operation. We think that squamous cell carcinomas of the breast can be treated according to the guidelines of the treatment for usual breast cancers, and are possible candidates for breast-conserving surgery.
