Abstract

We report a case of non-strangulated obturator hernia which was diagnosed by herniography and repaired by a laparoscopic operation. A 58-year-old woman had sometimes felt numbness extending from the right groin to the right thigh since 1991. While examined the cause of this symptom, she frequently complained of severe numbness and pain extending from the right hip to the right thigh that was seemed as Howship-Romberg sign. Herniography revealed right outurator hernia, and we repaired this hernia selectively by a laparoscopic operation.
Herniography is vey effective to diagnose non-strangulated obturator hernia and the laparoscopic repair is more appropriate treatment because of its easier technique and less postoperative pain.
