Abstract

We experienced a case of perforation of Meckel's diverticulum with enterolith.
A 66-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of right lower quadrant pain. A simple abdominal X-ray film and abdominal CT showed calcification in the right lower abdomen. An emergency operation was carried out with a diagnosis of generalized peritonitis due to acute appendicitis or diverticulitis. During operation, a Meckel's diverticulum 70cm oral side from the terminal portion of ileum was found and enterolith was present in the diverticulum which perforated at the tip. A wedge resection was performed. The patient was discharged from the hospital on 11 th postoperative day. Enterolith is rare espocially enterolith in a Meckel's diverticulum. There have been no case in the Japanese literature and about 10 cases in the Western dountries as four as we could review.
