Abstract

This paper describes about a system for predicting flood risk in the Yoshino River Basin. This system shows the flood risk based on discharge in rivers. Discharge estimation in the system is calculated by a distributed hydrological model: PWRI distributed model Ver.2. The radar rainfall data is input to PWRI distributed model Ver.2. Even if the medium and small scale catchments which are seemed vulnerable to floods, flood discharge can be simulated properly by the combination of a distributed model and radar rainfall data. A new feedback method was developed and the dam management rules of the Yoshino River Basin were also modeled in this system. In order to be used by local engineers with no difficulty, user friendly interface to show the simulation results and flood risk is developed in this system.
