Advance in technology and assignment of nature friendly river management

Abstract

In 2006, Nature friendly river works was revised to Nature friendly river management (NFRM) and the research on NFRM of small rivers has been advanced in these years. In this paper, I express, based on the research, the basic concept and design concept of NFRM, two case study and future problem. The basic concept is similar to “design with nature” by McHarg and integrated channel management by Downs & Gregory. The design concept is based on natural form and natural system of rivers. NFRM is quit different from flood control based river channel management. A lot of technical problems are left about NFRM.
