Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify credibility of river gravel elements using the handheld XRF and local characteristic distribution of river gravel elements in the Kurobe and Joganji Rivers.

As a result of reliability assessment of the handheld XRF using certification standard sample, 12 elements (Al, Si, S, K, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Rb, Sr) of igneous rocks detection precision was high.

As an analysis of spatial representativeness of element content ratio, Al and Si could have spatial representativeness even if few sample number. Trace element (S, Ni, Cu, Rb) had large unevenly distribution.As an examination the validity of surface measuring using the handheld XRF, only one surface measuring had a valid analytical result. The relationship between the surface measuring and loose powder method was mostly excellent.
