Abstract

In this paper, we report a result of two investigations which grasp the behavior of suspended sediment during a flood at the Nenotani-gawa River(in the Ota-gawa River basin). We measured the amount of the suspended sediment by means of surface water sampling turbidity with a turbidity meter installed in a bridge pier, water level at the station. It was investigated that the amount of the suspended sediment during the flood at the Nenotani-gawa River is relatively large compared with those reported at the other rivers in Japan. After the flood, we found that suspended sediment had been accumulated around the vegetation. The above made it clear that it is important to take into account of suspended sediment for a proper river management.
