Abstract

Periodic topography surveying is important for proper management of the dam, but it is not implemented sufficiently in prefectural management dams due to the budget constraint.

In this research, we proposed a new topography measuring technique of a dam reservoir by combining UAV and compact wireless ultrasonic sounder. As a result of test measurement at the Nagase dam in Kochi prefecture, the measurement accuracy of compact wireless ultrasonic sounder has comparable with general ultrasonic sounder, and it is confirmed that total working time can be drastically shortened to about 50% by using proposed measurement system under the assumed actual survey condition.
