Abstract

The expanding process of inundation damage in urban area was investigated in the present study. Simplified numerical simulation models were constructed on the basis of diffusion wave approximation to understand hydraulically the process itself and to estimate the magnitude of damage. Hazard map in the area of downtown Shinjuku was the most important information presented in this paper. Some sugestion on the underground space was also described here. Consideration about the arrangement of stairs conectted between the floors in this space are indispensable to make the inundation damage be minimum.
