Abstract
This study used an action research approach to examine whether the creation of educational
materials reflecting local disaster events and disaster prevention/mitigation workshops would raise
the disaster awareness of the students who participated in the workshops. The results are as follows:
1 Creating disaster prevention teaching materials that reflect local disaster events increases the
reality of disaster prevention and raises awareness of disaster prevention. 2 Students and faculty
members can work together in disaster education, leading to mutual disaster awareness building. 3 It
will lead to sustained voluntary disaster prevention and mitigation activities and the production of
human resources. In the future, as a strategy for human resource development for disaster reduction through collaboration between faculty and students, action research is a method that can be expected to produce human resources for disaster reduction, such as disaster volunteer workers.
