Abstract

This study aimed to extract components of the specialty of care workers through a free description survey by teachers of care worker training schools. The investigation was conducted by means of a free description-style questionnaire survey for 276 care teachers of a four-year universities all over Japan, and care worker training schools of the Kanto area. I shortened the sentences of 65 respondents to achieve meaningful unity, coded them, and then categorized them based on the similarity and difference of the codes. I obtained 148 codes, which were classified into 17 sub-categories, and finally into 8 categories.

I attempted to construct the mutual relations as components of the specialty of care workers. It was concluded that [the formation of relationships with the users] and [practice of the care process] were important components to practice [support for everyday life] and [support of worthwhile living]. In addition, it was suggested that [knowledge and technique], [ethics], [role recognition] and [cooperation] were indispensable factors as the base.
