[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to use a Geographic Information Systems(GIS)to grasp the status of development of Community General Support Centers, which are core institutions in the Community-based Integrated Care System, from the perspective of accessibility for the elderly, and to examine the visualization of their regional location and convenience.
[Method] Using GIS, we investigated the location and access distance of the Community General Support Centers in each region. We also conducted simulation analysis of improvement in regions with the longest average access distance.
[Result] The national average access distance to a local Community General Support Center was 2,391 m. The average access distance varied by prefecture and municipality. If we assume that nursing care health facilities and nursing care welfare facilities have Community General Support Center functions, we can estimate that the national average access distance will be less than 3.0 km.
[Conclusion] There are issues with the status of development of Community General Support Centers in terms of access distance in depopulated areas. It is hoped that convenience, such as accessibility to services and information, will be improved and that further use of technology such as ICT will be made.
