Abstract
Expected contributions of TRMM on scientific research and applications are discussed. It is expected that TRMM will play a major role on progresses in understanding the tropical general circulation and the mesoscale meteorology. The impacts of TRMM products on the numerical weather prediction are also discussed. Long-term continuous observations with following similar satellites will be required for further contributions.
