Abstract
The exact detection of train positions is a prerequisite for operational safety. Nowadays, in order to detect positions more accurately and to reduce the cost of ground equipment, a great many of the systems used for these calculations are on-board. However, existing on-board systems encounter problems such as calculation errors due to wheel slip and slide. Consequently, a new train location detection method for signalling was developed using an inertial sensor and/or a millimeter wave. This paper outlines the method in question and reports on results obtained through field tests.
