Abstract

The already known relations between R III flexion reflex and the nociceptive feeling due to electrical stimulation, appears to be a way for measuring pain.
So forth, it becomes reasonable to try and check the effectiveness of various therapies on pain relief: here is presented a preliminary study on the antalgic effects of acupuncture. Observing the results points out two phenomena:
-a now classical one which underlines the delayed efficiency of acupuncture along with a lesser amplitude of the R III nociceptive reflex;
-a paradoxal phenomenon, on the opposite, as far as we note an increase of R III -while acupuncture stimulation still goes on-.
