Abstract

Most of brake fluid is mainly Inade up Of glycol ether and poly glycol, therefore jt has a serious defect that its boiling point falls extremely by absorbing small amount of water. This character is very dangerous since brake fluid with low boiling point causes vapor lock. Recently a check valve set in master cylinder was abolished to economize fuel by a reduction of automobile weight and braking drag Consequently, it is important to keep the boiling point high in a management of brake fluid From investigations of water content in a used brake fiuid, some samples show conspicuous increase for about four months but the others still sufficiently fit for use even after one and half year. Therefore, safety management of brake fluid is not enough to ensure by an annual exchange Since the water content is evaluated by measuring of relative dielectric constant, it is effective management to check the relative dielectric constant of brake fluid in reservoir tank and to exchange the brake fiuid if the water content exceeded a certain value Waste brake fluid has generally absorbed moisture and contained foreign dust, however the character hardly changes chemically. Therefore, the majority can be rerefined well by a simple distillation and filtration. This recycle contributes preservation af resources.
