Abstract

This paper presents a new method applying knowledge engineering technique to develop fault diagnostic system.This system consists of the knowledge base and the inference engille.Chemical plant consists many components which are pump,valve and so on.The knowledge of these component malfunctions can commonly be utilized for various plants.Causal relationships between process variables and failure mode for various components are darified and described as component flow graph、Process flow graph,which each component How graphs are lillked,stored in the knowledge base.This system diagnoses any malfunctions in the plant by searching the knowledge base,This proposed diagnostic system has the facility for correcting and changing knowledge base. A pilot plant is used to demonstrate the eflectiveness of the proposed method.
